RIP Mitch Mitchell

Surely one of the best rock drummers.... sounded like he knew a thing or two about Elvin Jones. Great hands.... Hendrix wouldn't have sounded the same without him.

Oh No!

One of my boyhood idols. This guy was one of a kind and really drew on jazz influences to propel a power trio no less. Thanks Marcus...may he have one foot in heaven fore the devil knows he's gone!

I loved how he tuned the kit like a jazz drummer would. There was some real music in there. The combination of him, Jimi, and Billy Cox on "The Cry Of Love" was fantastic.

Bummer! That trio was one of the all-time best. Simple bass player, jazz drummer, R & B guitar player.

He was only 61. Noel Redding was fiftysomething. Hendrix.... rock was not an easy time in those days.

No way! What a loss. Definitely one of the rock greats, and quite underrated IMO.

Life on the road is harder on some than others. Sorry to hear he passed on while away from his family. They must be having an awful time right now. I ll never forget hearing that first Experience album. It was one of my first gateway drugs to free form expression in music with standard form.

RIP Mitch Mitchell

... what a legend ! ...and what an extaordinary drummer ,... a unique voice on his instrument, considering the genre he was playing . perfect guy for Jimi.

i don't know what it is , but so many players back then had something that was individual....
... now,.. ALL the drummers to me sound like Dave Weckl... I can't take it ...
