RIP TB'er Jim Calhoun

Bassist Jim Calhoun passed away very suddenly this afternoon from what appears to have been a heart attack.

Jim was a great player, active with many different groups & well-liked by all who had dealings with him (including me). He will be missed and the music scene in Southern Oregon will never be quite the same.

I don't have any more specific info at the moment. I'll post more as I get it.

It's a safe bet there will be a very large musical tribute.

Apparently he was at work in his office. Coworkers heard a "thud" and that's all she wrote.

His wife Lori is also a musician. No word yet on how she's holding up. (Obviously she's had better days...)

Jim was ever bit as easy going and genuinely as good a person as they come. I never saw the smile leave his face and he never had a bad word for anyone. Why such a great guy had to go so early I'll never know. I know those of us who knew him will carry the essence and inspiration he left us with for a long time. So sad.
Jeff let us know when a memorial gets put together.
Stephen

Here is a page we set up to coordinate events.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jimcalhoun

As of yet there is no info to post but once services, tributes and fund raisers are organized, the info will be there. (There's talk of a fund raiser at the Unitarian church on the afternoon of Sunday the 21st. Not set in stone yet.)
