Roots/Americana/Bluegrass scene in LA?

I was curious if there's a scene of any kind in the Los Angeles or Ventura areas for roots music? I know further up the coast and especially in NorCal there's a rather large following for BG and Americana style music (think The Devil Makes Three). but for the life of me I can't seem to find anything down here in SoCal. Anyone here know of any good bands or venues for this stuff?
