| Scar treatments on fingers My doctor finally thinks that the scar on my left index finger is healed enough to begin treatment. I had to not use the finger for a long time because I kept screwing up the healing. My right index finger healed with little visible scarring, though I can still feel them and worry that the skin may be fragile in places. The left has been the main problem and I have not been allowed to play.
He started by giving me steroid (Kenalog) injections and wants me to return in a month for more injections and laser treatment. I have had Kenalog injections in the past in other areas that were not subject to bending/motion and I have never had any sort of laser. The area we are working on extends across the side of the middle joint and wraps around into the fold of the joint. I have regained much of the range of motion but still have stiffness, pain and trouble fully straightening and bending the finger due to the stiffness of the scar and the thickening of the area in the finger fold.
Don't know if anyone has had similar trouble or any experience with this sort of treatment. I am probably being overly nervous about this considering some of the injuries I have seen players come back from over the years. This one has been a long road but I have not had the pressure that some of you face in that I don't play for a living.
Nervous,
S
