Shirley Horn

I didn't catch this till today, but she passed away on Thursday at the age of 71. I loved her style...

Story in the Houston Chronicle.

I never saw her live, but I loved listening to her, especially with her own trio. Such beauty and restraint. She could get more emotion out of a phrase with just three well-placed notes than all the Christina Aguilaras of the world can do with all their vocal acrobatics.

RIP.

SLOWLY BUT SHIRLEY - gotta love it. Quarter note=the rest of the afternoon. She could really lay into the time in such a beautiful way.
