If they're good enough for Dave Holland... | Sure but wait until you try this bass with those <insert string here>. They sound even better than spirocores and they're easier to play!!!
And then once you've tasted the fruit, you would've fallen out of the Garden of Spirocores and into the Hell which is GAS.
I think the only real cure to GAS is satisfaction. I you ain't satisfied, well you're screwed. Actually I don't think basses are like wives. You can't upgrade your wife or the way she acts if you get frustrated wit her.

I remember in the 70s I had a subscription to Stereo Review and everytime I heard of a new receiver or speaker I lusted for it. Then I got a sub to PC Magazine and the same happened with computer equipment. Reading Talkbass has the same effect on me - I am a weak, materialistic fool. | The above quote is what I feel has happened to me over the past few months, since I have begun reading TalkBass on a fairly daily basis.
I've bought some strings from some members here and was tempted to do so again, just the other day (and I may do it yet) but I RESISTED.
But, then again, a buildup of GAS can sometimes be painful! <G> |

| Not so -- plastic surgery, corrective psychotherapy, and as a last resort, remarriage to someone else. Costs about the same as a pro DB anyway...

But looking at divorace rates these days it seems that spouses and DB's are no different. Which begs the question, what's really going wrong here? Or is this the way things have always been/will be? |

This is another syndrome called SAS (Surgery Acquisition Syndrome). It seems to be a strange parallel to GAS.
Symptoms
Tummy Tuck (1st Bass)
Breast Augmentation (Small amp)
2nd Breast Aug. (bigger amp)
Full Blown Hee-Haw Hooties (Complete Rig)
Face Lift (Boutique Bass)
Butt Lift (Flight Cases)
Gluteal Implants (Designer Gig bag).
Scary aint it.
Mike

I mean, I'm just ass-over-teakettle in love with Animas, and I still found myself starting a thread on Spiro combinations a couple of weeks ago. Weird.

Starter rig is:
3 boards, 5 sails, 3 masts, 3 fins (at least, comparable to strings), harness, designer bags to put it in, trunks, van...
The wife multiple - Always admit to the stuff costing 1/3 what you really paid
