Tango Bass

Can anyone guide me towards some great tango bass players, instructional material, or recordings?

I know next to nothing about this style but just played a tango written by a friend and had a blast.

tango

There's a great bass player named Pablo Motta from Argentina. He played in Kansas City for a minute which is where I knew him then he moved to LA. Last I heard he was traveling the world with a tango group with his father. I don't know any recordings with him but check out anything with the name Astor Piazzola on it.

Check out any recording by Astor Piazzolla. His band is just stellar and his bassists switch between arco and pizz a lot in his music. It's really great stuff. His album "Live in Central Park" is a great overview of his music.

If you want to check out the Master, go here;
http://www.piazzolla.org/

More sounds clips than you can shake a bandoneon at.

In a certain vernacular, that site would be referred to as "dope, yo".
