Theater Audition Question

I'm auditioning for a theater production and they want me to prepare 3 pieces, one uptempo, one ballad broadway piece and one rock piece. Does this mean that I show up with a chart for the pianist and play the bassline? I'm sure they don't want me to play the melody since that isn't what I'll be doing at the show. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd guess they want to hear you simply play the basslines in all your lonesome glory.

I think they just want to hear for themselves that you can indeed play the bass. I think I would - especially if it was me footing the bill…
