Trombone Shorty

So I went to his concert here in madison last night. I'm blown away, the guy is amazing, he's parker, adderley, Diz, Miles, Coltrane, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, and all your favorite horn players rolled into one trombone and trumpet playing badass package. The guy is amazing and his band is awesome. He played everything Funk, second line, soul, jazz, rock, punk, blues and even some ska sounding songs. He made sure everyone in the band got a solo and fair credit for their contributions. The icing on the cake of this situation is that he stayed after on stage for like half an hour talking with a bunch of the musicians who had come up on stage to thank him. I talked to him about how he had used major 7 arpeggios in some of his solos and about how I try to draw from a lot of sources including classical. He was really humble and a pleasure to talk to and an inspiring performer. It was a great concert. Check him out.
