Warburton's former boss

No, no, forget Bill.

Too few people know much about her.
I last saw her at Storyville in Boston opposite Miles. Her bassist was Teddy Kotick.
Hip, funky. A musician's singer. Amazing sense of time, unfortunately not as audible here.

I'm just messing, but did you notice it as well? Pretty prounounced. I was hoping to get a better shot of Teddy to see if he's playing the bass that I trialed a month or so ago. It was a plain old Juzek but it did have some stuff happening.

Who cares, if it's swinging and everyone is playing together? Didn't PC & Jimmy Cobb slow down sometimes, didn't Bill & Eddie speed up sometimes? Didn't we love 'em all?

Teddy's not the bassist in the clips. I meant that Teddy was in her trio at Storyville when I saw her.

Wrong.
Thanks for the OP mention, Dono. She was a great friend and swang her butt off every night.

Yeah, something was lost in translation. You said, who cares, it's swings like hell. And I was agreeing by joking. My speeding up comment was just something I noticed. Paul took it some way, I'm not sure...but I ain't worried. I love Anita and loved the clips. Sometimes the web isn't the best way to nuance meaning....

My observation was she loved bass players.

She seems like a pretty dandy lady. I've known of her, but never really checked her out before tonight. She swings pretty damn hard, and wikipedia (I know it's not that reliable) has got some interesting stuff about her. I wonder how much of it is true. And where are the videos of her and Warburton?

I know its apples to oranges and I'm a certified fogey, but all the Christinas, Britneys, Rhiannas, Gagas etc. of the world should have their eyelids propped open and forced to watch and listen to these clips over and over again until they understand what standing in front of a microphone and delivering a song really means.

She's just lovely. A very fine entertainer. And a great sense of phrasing and dynamic swing.

And us musicians could use some eye propping too. I'll take all of this. For me, this IS what it's all about.
