Why don't luthiers...

...participate in discussions over the merits of their work on here? Is there some sort of rule that they can't? Is it considered spamming? Or is it a matter of not wanting to come across as "salesmen?" Because if I was a luthier, I'd not only participate in those discussions, I'd take every opportunity to tell people why they should buy my products and not the competition's.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not a luthier

And who says the luthiers don't participate? There are a number of very accomplished, talented, dedicated luthiers who are regulars here. They share their knowledge and experience generously, without compensation. And their humour. We're lucky to have 'em aboard.

Do you spend more time over on the electric side than here?

Because it's rude and classless.
