wounded finger tip

I am not even sure how any more, but maybe few weeks
back I managed to get a small cut on the tip of my left
hand ring finger. Such a little thing, who would think it
would be SUCH a pain in the butt.

Basically, the cut has led most of the hardened skin on the
finger tip to peel, and now every time I think its sound
enough to play I end up causing new small breaks in the
skin, and a new round of skin peeling off

Anyone else have a problem like this and what did you do?
My teacher has bugged me to go to the doctor, but I'm
fairly confident the doctor will just tell me to not play
for a month and I really dont want to hear that answer

Have you tried any kind of liquid band-aid? Those work really well (and you can play while it's healing). I got turned onto that stuff during a Jazz camp a few years ago where I was playing 6-7 hours a day. It works really well.

I keep a tube of super glue handy for finger tip cuts.
I can still play with minimum pain.

Ya, thats what I'm using now. I was using regular bandaids
but they would get in the way of playin, plus they didnt last
long before coming off Liquid BandAid is kinda expensive,
but I must admit it stays on and seals the area up well.

Was using an antibiotic ointment on it, then with a finger
cot when not playing. As long as I dont practice in thumb
position I dont put much pressure on that tip, but naturally
thumb is what I'm workin on right now Putting that finger
down to stop a B2 on the G string and bowing, it puts quite
a strain on it

Its been about two weeks since I posted, right now its
looking like its 'almost' healed (knock on wood).

Thanks for the responses,

Liquid BandAid is pretty expensive... I prefer NuSkin anyways. It's much easier to apply if you have a larger/deeper area to cover. Best of luck!
