Hi Folks,
Thinking of stenciling on a T-shirt: "**** Playing For Free" to wear for the next damn free show I have to play. Who Likee?
Edit:
How about:
Every time I play for free Jesus kills an unborn baby kitten.

Might be better to try something like "I played a gig and all I got was this fine t-shirt". Or in the present tense if you want. You might also want to change the word "fine"
Or better yet, "I played a gig and I didn't even get this fine t-shirt". |

...however...
Gas isn't free. Drumheads & sticks wear out. Strings need replacement. Speakers get tired & get reconed/replaced.
If you're going to play for free, might as well stay in the basement/garage/practice space. You can "enjoy" playing music there, without schlepping gear, dealing with drunken @$%^&*es yelling "Freebird"...etc.
If I'm going to go to the trouble of draggin my gear, showing up at X time, playing a Y minute setlist, somebody's going to come up with something...doesn't have to be a fortune, but $$$ crossing hands is the universal symbol of respect. No $$$, no respect for what you bring to the table.

Wearing it while negotiating the terms of a gig... different story |

EVERYBODY going to this particular dive knows the scoop. And the dipshit who booked us should be scared right down to his diaper that I might crack his skull with my 100% USA Ric.
