Play at a cityfest this afternoon. Thank goodness PA was provided! I brought my bass rig and gave them a signal from my SD Parnormal. Other bands were under the impression I was going to leave my rig........they were wrong!

My band has a gig tomorrow evening at an outdoor party. The average temp this week has been 94 with a heat index around 105! I will have to bring a big towel to wipe the sweat off my bass!

It hit 110 today in Danville. Thank God I don't have to gig in it.

Got back a couple of weeks ago from doing 11 days straight in Key West (all outside). 12 gigs in 11 days cause one of them was on the front of a catamaran sailing around the island for the sunset festival before our normal 10pm-2am gig (89 degrees at night with 100% humidity). I love playing, but I thought I was going to die around day 4. I get home and Nashville is on fire, at least it feels that way.

Just be careful with sun block on your arms when handling a bass with lacquer finish...some of the sun block formulations can attack the finish.

My band played last week in Vegas where it reached record highs for them topping out at 122!!!! When we played it was 115. I had never experienced anything like that let alone putting on a high energy performance. I was so exhausted and destroyed I ended up bolting off stage right after the last song and barfing all over the place outside right as everyone was coming out. Sucked pretty bad.

Try one of these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Howard-Ber...e-Fan/14450714. They are loud and noisy but can put out some air.

I have a fan similar to this and take it everywhere we play. We played some outdoor shows in the blazing sun and high humidity, and this makes it a lot easier. It's also a chick magnet, since the girls dancing want to stand in front of it to cool off

I practice in my garage in 90+ degree weather with 80%+ humidity with no insulation or air conditioning. I think the metal door actually heats it up.

Granted, it's not the same as being in a gig.

By the way, the above post was meant to be light hearted. No offense.

Much of my work is physical and outside. It's just different when you are trying to concentrate on playing and putting on a good show.

The old Yorkshireman says....

....oh yeah? Back in my day, the entire family lived on the sun. We had to get up half an hour before we went to bed to clean the sun with our tongues. We'd eat a lump of hot poison for breakfast, then go down to the mill to work a 29 hour shift and pay the mill boss for permission to work there. Then we'd come back home to the sun and our dad would kill us all, dance on our graves and sing hallelujah!
