A 13 year old kid wanted to learn to play bass

His parents agreed to buy him a bass and amp, and let him take lessons. After the first week's lesson, his parents asked him how it went. "Great", he said, "I learned all of the notes on the first two strings." After the second week's lesson, the kid informed his parents that he had learned all of the notes on the other two strings. The third week came and the kid did not come home after his lesson. He finally showed up at his house after midnight, reeking of beer and cigarettes. "Where have you been?" his parents asked. The kid replied: "I HAD A GIG."
