I had to share this with everyone. Last night I went to the guitarists studio for practice. While we were still shooting the Bull, he gets a phone call from the dude who does the booking at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch NJ. I hear something like this from the phone:

Hey Jack, whats going on?
Last minute gig sure. When?
Tonight?
Be there at 10:00pm?
OK, tonight I have the full band with me now.
I know you wanted me to do a solo act but I have the guys here.
OK, we'll be there at 10:00.

So we practice for an hour, break down our equipment (guitar pedal board, percussionists cajone, and a small bass amp + his guitar and my bass)

We get to the bar and besides the other two solo acts, there's 2 people at the bar. LOL - This was the first time I have been on stage in almost 20 years and it was perfect to work out those bugs and stage fright. We had a great show, sounded fairly tight, not like anyone was there to notice the small mess ups, and most importantly I was very at ease with the whole thing. I had a great time and my buddy Tony, the guitarist "Astronaut Jones", said that for having only 6 practices, we sounded as good as any bar band would and he was overly happy with the way things went.

So we rocked those two guys who couldn't care less and I am still smiling today. Unfortunately, no pictures but still kicked arse.

Love those gigs on the fly, congrat's!. I had a similer exp., a few weeks ago, I play with these guys regularly, but they booked a gig doing there originals, And I've been so busy with work, I had no time to work on the material till an hour before the set, I sat in the drummers car and learned all the material off the cd in the front seat with my bass on my lap. By the seat of your pants. not perfect, but hey. all the best.........b.

Welcome back to the wonderful world of bar gigs. The next gig could be in front of 25 cougars rocking the dance floor all night. You never know....

Strange how a male robbing the cradle is called a lecher and usually with more than a little disdain, but when a woman robs the cradle she's a cougar and it's oh so cool.

Not complaining, just wondering aloud.

Oh and welcome back to the wonderful world of playing out. I recently started back after laying out since 99 and it's been a real hoot.

I am still amped up from 2 days ago. I can wait until the next show. The first official trio show is supposed to be July 23. It looks like we might do a couple before then.
