I had to share this with everyone. Last night I went to the guitarists studio for practice. While we were still shooting the Bull, he gets a phone call from the dude who does the booking at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch NJ. I hear something like this from the phone:
Hey Jack, whats going on?
Last minute gig sure. When?
Tonight?
Be there at 10:00pm?
OK, tonight I have the full band with me now.
I know you wanted me to do a solo act but I have the guys here.
OK, we'll be there at 10:00.
So we practice for an hour, break down our equipment (guitar pedal board, percussionists cajone, and a small bass amp + his guitar and my bass)
We get to the bar and besides the other two solo acts, there's 2 people at the bar. LOL - This was the first time I have been on stage in almost 20 years and it was perfect to work out those bugs and stage fright. We had a great show, sounded fairly tight, not like anyone was there to notice the small mess ups, and most importantly I was very at ease with the whole thing. I had a great time and my buddy Tony, the guitarist "Astronaut Jones", said that for having only 6 practices, we sounded as good as any bar band would and he was overly happy with the way things went.
So we rocked those two guys who couldn't care less and I am still smiling today. Unfortunately, no pictures but still kicked arse. |
