2 Ibanez And A Question

Sign in to disble this ad
At tonight's show my bassist called me out from behind the soundboard (New Mackie Onyx 24-4!!) to play bass on Possum Kingdom by The Toadies.

Anyone have a clue what the model # is on this old Ibanez?
I had to rebuild it to upgrade our sound from his Peavey and the spaghetti wiring was a bitch to figure out.
Probably basswood body.
Neck is sweet, as is the tone.

Our buddy Alex brought out his beat-up SR500, and Rikk seemed to enjoy rocking the crap out of it:

The mahogany SR500s are butt-ugly but the sound and playability are insane.

Have you tried taking the neck off? My '95 Ibby has the model number on the base of the neck, don't know if the 80's basses had it in there (I assume it's an 80's model).

Is there a serial number anywhere on it? And once you get the year and model figured out, Ibanez has free wiring diagrams listed under "customer support" on their website.

Alright, did a bit of research on the Ibanez Register for you. Looks like a RD828LE, the body shape, knob layout, color and inlays all seem to match. Late 80's or early 90's it seems.

Unfortunately, the diagrams on Ibanez' website are only offered on models from '94 and on, so can't help there... sorry.
