No, just trying to keep the history straight (there are already enough misconceptions regarding hip-hop flying about this forum as it stands). Bambaataa was, first and foremost, a DJ and selector who also worked as a producer (he is credited with having started Electro-funk with "Planet Rock"). Anyway, you're right - this thread was supposed to be fun, so let's continue:
MC 900 Ft Jesus (I actually kind of like the name for all its wackiness, and the man did produce some good hip-hop). |

I partly think its because most people see music as their life experiences allow them. The unfortunate thing to me that goes on in TB as well as other areas is, if I take some ones fav genre and play a bad display of that, they will def. guide me to better examples, but at the same time, do not wish to indulge in finding better examples of genres they bash.
I think the topic is entertaining, but its sickening when everytime the word "rap" is mentioned, theres instant negativity and bashing. I must say that it happens with that word on TB more than any other genre.

Are we any less of musicians because we listen to, play, and enjoy it? I don't really dig most country music, but I'm not gonna go around dissing country and calling it a stupid genre. It's music. You don't like it, fine, but don't call an artform and genre I enjoy playing and listening to "crap". Just say it's not your bag.

If one cant identify with the lyrical content then they must try and look to the musical content, which is often repetitive and not very interesting I admit, but there are so many acceptions to that its not funny. Also most modern mainstream(radio and tv) rap is just crap altogether since the music sux and they rap about bs so people just get turned off to the whole genre. just my opinion as to why folks here hate on rap so hard. | I'm pathetically white, but I can't identify with country either! I do enjoy good lyrics, just sometimes the presentation isn't pleasing to my ears.

I wouldn't agree with the list about Devin The Dude, and Del the Funkee Homosapien(I don't know why, I've just always been a fan of them). Almost all the rest of them I would agree on. |
