I played this h.s. graduation party on the 4th, a standard classic rock kind of thing. it is a family party with kids & grandparents. so after our first set this little 9 yr old girl asks to sing a song, an original song & her mom asks if we can play while she sings. so we say ok we'll see what we can do & then BAM this girl starts singing with some serious pipes. so we figure out some chords & coach her a bit on what we will do to start & such. well she stole the show! she grabbed that mic & never missed a beat. it was darn impressive & i don't know if i have ever seen a little girl more happy. it was very cool.

too bad the night ended with the graduates having a full on rap battle & we were the live backing band. we got a great tip for being very "patient" with the rappers & beatboxers. the dad wanted to pull the plug but there were a hundred kids going crazy.

That's awesome...

We had a kid walk up to the stage a few months back looking at the guitar player's rig. His dad said he'd been playing about 3 years or so. The kid didnt look but about 8 years old. His dad asked if he could play a song with us while we were just hanging around waiting for the show. The guitard hung his guitar on the kid and he took off playing Freebird. It was a hoot. He couldnt handle the jam riff at the end but played the verse and bridge/chours parts really well. I hope he keeps it up. He'll be good some day.
