4th of July Gigs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Where's you play? How was it? I was here, Arizona Iced Tea guy's place. It was a GREAT gig. We could see all the fireworks in NYC, all the way up to Rye. Spectacular. Nice folks too. Sure wish I had more like this one.
It's the huge place at the tip, with 5 cars in the lot. Ignore the 'A' marker, it's wrong:

That's where we were- the 'A' marker is wrong. It is a sick place.

I played a gig with the Granati Brother, or G-Force, in Beaver, PA yesterday. It was with my "School of Rock" class I take in the summer.

We didnt know the set list, as it was made up on the spot, and the other students hadnt played the songs since May.

Train wreck, over all.

And even if the A is wrong, the place that its marking is huge!

Didn't play, but was a a local army base for their celebration. The highlight for me was the "talent" was a country wanna be. This guy could not shut up. So comes the moment when the hired bassest, who was extrememly talented, could have his solo. The "talent" is intorducing him and praising him and talking about how rare it is this guy gets to shine. Meanwhile the guy is doing his solo and looking at the "talent" as if to say, SHUT UP, I'M DOIN MY THANG AN UR F'IN IT! The talent finally shuts up...solo is over. Bassist just goes back to the song...and changes the tempo to mess the "talent" singer up.

Well, there's other adult beverages in his portfolio too. But his current earnings come from tea. I laugh that he basically paid me back several time over for all of his tea I've drunk!
Hey Jordasch- don't sweat it, we had no setlist either! The leader just called out the next tune near the end of each song, it works if everybody knows the stuff.

But not everyone knew the songs, thus creating the problem. And they had some young kid who had never even played with us playing along. Missed every, I mean every, note and chord.

We played an outdoor party at a private house in Mississippi last night. Beautiful place that sits on 80 acres of farm land.

The humidity was so thick you could cut it with a knife. We were under a covered patio attached to the house, so the acoustics were terrible. But we still had a good time...

Finally, someone else who says "my man." I always thought I was alone.

Its just one gig. Here is a good quote,

Perfect for that gig.

I watched a couple of bands play and stayed for the Wet T-Shirt & Biggest/Smallest boobies contests.

Best 4th of July for me in a LONG time...

Sorry, no pix.

Played at a local July 4th celebration. We were the opening act. After us was Bonfire Way, Vertigo, then the headliner, Ronnie McDowell. It was a little warm, but we were well-received and got some priceless press out of it. This was our first gig with our new lead guitarist and he killed. And yes, we're all older - I'm the baby @ 46.

I played Friday night at a house on the river in Rumson, NJ for the fireworks (private party, public fireworks shot off 200 feet in front of the house, from a barge on the river) and last night at a concert in a park (early) then a wedding at night near Atlantic City. Lots of driving (well, I rode). I have a few pictures, nothing exciting. I can't take pictures while I play, I don't know hoe people do that! I play in a motown/ R&B band so there is literally about 2 minutes out of a whole night's worth of music where I am not playing.

Sawdust Art Festival, Laguna Beach CA. http://www.sawdustartfestival.org/. Nice place, nice people, weather was perfect. Afternoon show so I got home before dark to catch the local fireworks.

Played a private party/picnic in Darien on Friday night as a fill-in with some guys I didn't know until I met 'em at the gig. Easy gig, and great pay for three hours work. Didn't get rained on, either. Spent the rest of the weekend puttering about the house ... and drinkin' a few cold ones.

We played for the City of Elkins' fire works show. Little kids asked for autographs, made me feel like a rock star.
