Sheesh, just got back from trying to buy a Mesa road ready cab and the SOB sold it before I got there.
I told him I needed at least 45-hour to get there, and asked if that was ok. "Sure, no problem". Cash machine won't dispense $$ so I have to go into the bank and then drive all the way across town. I end up about 10 minutes late (my fault, but given banking and drive time I figured I was pretty close). Anywhoo, pull up to find out that he just sold it. He said "I gave you 45 minutes".
All I ask is that people are honest - if you say 45 - hour is fine, don't change your mind just because you can get the money 10 minutes faster. Wasted a good hour+ of my day.
end of rant. Thx for listening. |

The problem, from a seller's POV, is that you never know if a guy is going to flake out or not. Now, were this seller a buddy of yours, I can see why you'd be ticked... But if he's some stranger, you can't really blame him for making the sale, can you?
Don't worry about it - there is no such thing as a one time only good deal - There'll be another cab out there for ya.... and then you can sell it!

Not that I have strong feelings either way. |

no sales person in their right mind is going to turn down a sell b/c someone "said" they were coming to buy it.

Back when I worked in retail it was store policy of first come first serve, we could hold things for someone for a reason like that but if someone came along with cash in hand ready to purchase had to give it to him. Now if you put a portion of the money down then we would hold it for you till you came back no matter how long.
No worries man, other cabs in the sea!

Had I known, I would have dropped everything and gotten there asap. Instead he gave no indication that time was of the essence. As a matter of fact, he just said he needed to sell it before the end of the week.
Oh well, maybe a Berg will be better anyway... |

I've been burned more than once waiting for people to " run to the atm" that never come back or ask to hold it a day...
Money Talks...

I expect others to have some ethics also. If I'm a buyer running late, I call the seller. If I'm the seller and another offer comes in, I call the other buyer.
I guess it's a new world, and since people now deal with a huge internet buying public rather than a small community, they don't feel the need for their word to mean anything. It's a lot like flaming on an internet forum. I'm a bit old school, I try to do right by the "customer", be they buyer or seller. Silly me. |

At any rate, live and learn - thanks for letting me gripe. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
