I've got a gig in exactly one week. Which wouldn't be a problemo except all the band members are away so to speak. So its just me and the drummer...

Guitarist 1 can't come to practice due to the weather
Guitarist 2 can't come because she wants to smoke
Guitarist 3 can't come because he's at work (understandable)
Singer is away at God camp.

Chirst on a biscuit...

We're doing a bunch of new numbers and its only me and the drummer.

I can't win :-(

find a guitarist who can sing to sub for the others- and go ahead and drop guitarist #2. that's quite possibly the stupidest excuse i've ever heard.

also: WTH @ 3 guitarists?

She said she was busy (I have two female lead players) and that usually means she's going to smoke. They (the leads) are both fantastic players but are very flakey.

I just called the girl who couldnt come because of the weather, and offered to give her a ride in my pick up (which is a 4x4) and she still said no. Blah!

EDIT: To SirCanealot, the weather here is maybe 2 inches of snow plus a bit of sleet. Not great weather but still doable when the studio is 4 blocks from your house.

The stuff she is smoking is blueberry haze I believe as I sold my last to her when I gave up pot.

Geez, get new band members. They all sound useless. If someone in our band said to me "I can't come to practice because of the weather" (unless it was really snowing hard out) or "I'm going to smoke instead", I'd say "Well, good luck with finding another band."

The only people that have consistantly stayed in the band are the drummer and rhythm guitarist. Guess I should be finding some new leads soon...

well, if they'r eboth really good, you can probly keep one and just ditch the one who smokes. Is there really a good reason to have 2 leads? If you need 2, that probly means they aren't good enough on their own.

I play heavily blues influenced rock kinda like Cream and Zeppelin, and then I get dual harmonies going. One is an 8yrs playing classically trained guitarist who wails out clapton-esque blues riffs like it was nothing.

The other (smoker) is also a fantastic singer (and the backup vocalist) and she's been playing blues guitar for ages and I think she played Jazzfest awhile back. Plus through her and my friend Larry I get most of my gear at factory price or close to it.

Opinions?

Yeah I heard of Maiden, big fan, but they ripped off (aka borrowed) the harmonized leads from a little band called wishbone ash.

People think I'm crazy because I like pre-dickenson maiden better...

Well I was shoveling snow outside at work, the classical guitarist calls me and tells me she quit...

Why is it that all the good guitar players I know are chicks?
