Air Guitard Champion???

Sign in to disble this ad
My neice is getting married next summer, and we are having two engagement parties this weekend so the families can meet each other. I found out that one of the relatives in the other family is some sort of "Air Guitar" expert and champion.

Aparently there is a pretty avid and serious contengent of air guitarists that take their performances very seruiously. He has won numerous contests, and I believe he even teaches it and has videos.

OK, I'll continue when I can type without laughing so hard. I may need medical treatment, as my muscles are cramping from all the laughter the past few weeks since I heard about this guy. I told my neice that she ought to get this guy to play her reception. Maybe he's got a whole "air band" that could really rock the house. I can hear it now: "Dang, you guys sound just like the original band. Ya'll are awesome!! You got any CDs?" I'm about to pee on myself just writing this, I'm laughing so hard.

Now I am not usually one to laugh at some one elses hobby, but I can't help it. I mean, seriously guys, an air guitar "Champion"?????????

I remember hearing somewhere that getting caught playing air guitar is worse than getting caught masturbating, but when you think about it, isn't air guitar just a talentless hack's way of saying "Hey, look at me! I'm special because I can pretend to play an instrument."?

Everyone always wants to play air guitar, so much so that there is a glut of them. Where are all the air bassists? I guess people think that air bass is not as cool.

Believe it or not, Air Guitar Championship is a big "to do"!

http://www.usairguitar.com/

The 2 guys at the top of the homepage are the winner and 1st runner up of the last 2 championships. I watched a documentary on the "Air Guitar Championship" on VH1 Classic a while back. These guys are pretty serious, regardless of how cheesy it may appear.

The "ultimate" championship was held in Norway, IIRC, with competitors from ALL OVER THE WORLD. The guy with the "Hello Kitty" chest badge won.

IMHO it's almost as cheesy as GH and RB, but to each their own.

Man, what has the world come to. Air guitar, Guitar Hero, what is going on that we don't even waste time with learning music anymore. Air Bass Hero.... I had someone telling me that they were learnig to play on Guitar Hero and that I should let them sit in with my band. I had to get security to diffuse the situation, just way to funny.

Well, it is a new era of musical instruments. No more strings, just buttons.

Air Guitar: Right up there in relevance with other such pursuits as Air Flossing, Air Reading, and Air Tree Logging. I'm sure there are "champions" in that too...

LMAO!!! Please tell me you're kidding!

Hell, just for the entertainment value, I would've invited him to practice, put a Squier Strat on him (don't want him effing up an MIA or even an MIM) and started into a song! lol!

And without the difficulty of lugging a real Fender Twin. I hear those Air Fender Twins are very easy to lug around, and they have a real "transparent" tone, readilly allowing the true voice of the guitar to be heard...

Yuck-yuck.

I wonder which air guitar these guys prefer: solid-body or hollow?

Do you think there threads on the AirGuitar message boards like....

Air Les Paul vs Air Strat
Air Marshall vs Air Fender
Post pics of your 80's air guitar
Air SS vs Air Tube
Which Air Cab should I pair with my Air Head (no pun intended)
What Air Strings do you use
Air Kahler vs Air Floyd Rose

What do you mean "almost"?

Here's an entertaining thread.
