ok so i cant slap at all, except for one line from a spice girls song, wanna be. (shut up its cool sounding) and this stupid guy that used to be my friend until he turned into the ultimate douche, picks up my bass. and starts slapping. hes like oh man, im so freakin good at this. but like, theres not sound of the slap at all, just him smashing my strings with his thumb/palm. and then, he broke my g string and refused to pay for it. they, were brand new, 45 dollar, just that morning, flats that i was planning on having for a while. i told him i wanted 10 bucks for that string, nope. wouldnt give it to me.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA | This reminds me of a video I saw on Youtube a few times a while back. Can't remember what band it was to save my life... bottom line, a fight breaks out in the audience front row, all hell breaks loose on stage, fight spills on stage, and, well... the bass player conks one of the guys right on the temple with his Music Man bass. How it didn't freakin kill the guy I don't know, but any MM bass to the face will leave a mark!

The bassist in one quick, cool motion tosses his cigarette to the side and looks the cop dead in the eye and says...
"So what? I`m the bass player." |

| | | | Heh, I laughed out loud when I read the title of this thread. It's SO true! My brother can tear it up on the guitar, but any time he picks up my bass and tries to slap and pop it makes me wince.......especially when it is plugged it lol. |

as for slapping a spice girls song, slapping on flatwounds, and spending 45 on strings...well. i wont comment. honestly it just sounds like you are bitter towards that ONE guy

I spend 60 euros on my last set of elixirs, they're just about to be replaced after a year. |

I personally think slapping sounds better on flats (at least with certain brands - the differences are huge) than rounds, and what's wrong with slapping a spice girls bass line? I can imagine that song being quite fun to play.
On topic... I have a guitarist friend who is a badass slapper. He's got an infinitely better technique that I have...
Oh and he should replace the broken string for you. A set with one string missing is no fun.
