Always be prepared, another "bass player saves the day"..... with his flueglehorn???

So, I used to play trumpet, flueglehorn in school, and for a number of years after. Took up bass in high school.

So talking to the trumpet player in my jazz band, he's been bugging me to bring my flueglehorn to practice so he can try it for months now. I finally remember to drag it down there last weekend.

So the guitar player from that band played the Jazz Fest downtown Detroit today with one of the artists. He never even heard of a flueglehorn until last week. Turns out the trumpet player from that band had problems with his flueglehorn. He asks the guys, you know, long shot, but never know, does anyone know anybody that has a flueglehorn he can borrow?

So the guitar player pipes up... I know a guy with a flueglehorn!!! Who? My bass player has one!

So I laugh at you guys that merely have spare basses to cover yourself in case of equipment problems....

How many of you have spare trumpets and flueglehorns!!!

What else would you get for the bass player that has everything? lol

So at least my flueglehorn has played at the Jazz Festival at Hart Plaza, even if I haven't yet...
Randy

Well done, Steve. Well done. And bragging rights are well-claimed. :-)

I played trumpet/flugel for 15+ ysars, including even some solo work through *BOOT CAMP* in the Navy. Later, I launched a 180-page-plus website with the orginal flugelhorn knowledge base. I lost the domain. Anyway, just sold a 460-bore callet jazz fliugel about 4 months back on eBay. Sad to see it go, but it partly financed my future.

But man, thinking on your situation ... that flugel player has to be the luckiest on-site horn-player since ... when? I gave up brass because of a chronic ear condition, but it led to somewhere better for me (here). But man - if I could wail once in awhile on a flugel without physical pain, I'd be doing it.
