Amazing! My current gear sounds better in down economy!

Yep. Now that I can't afford to do much buying, trading or up-grading I find that my current set-up is sounding much better. And I don't have the high-end stuff, either.... MIM Fender, Squier VM, Hartke amp, Ampeg cabs.

And I suppose I'll be finding out how worn out strings really sound. That might be a surprise as well.

Economy down, better sound!

Could be that even when the economy improves, GC & Sam Ash might not be seeing me as much. This might be my personal silver lining.

Yep, I used the same bass and amp for aprox 14 years (carvin bb75, hartke 3500/carvin15 or 2x10) This spring I bought a mim 5 string jazz, then in the summer I bought a shuttle 6. I've been switching back n forth between the new and old rigs and think I will get rid of the new and keep the old (I may keep the jazz, I like the vintage look...lol). Hell, if it ain't broke don't fix it. With the current economy, I won't have cash for new stuff. Soooo, It's as good as it gets!

My gear would sound great if my amp hadn't just blown a power tube...

I think it makes Mac & Cheese and Ramen Noodles taste better, too.

When you see people around you losing jobs, struggling, ect. it makes you apperciate what you have a little more.

That's always been happening... people are just attuned to it right now and it's the media's pet hype topic to get people to watch something.

Of course it is nothing new.

Where I live some of the "bigger" employers have shut their doors putting people out of work, more this year than in the past. I'm not saying that it is a big suprise, not a big shock, not saying that this doesn't happen all of the time. Just that when you see it happen it makes you appreciate YOUR job and what you do have more.

Sorry for the confusion.
