a couple weeks ago while my band was on tour, we played this church hall called "The Anchor" in nashville, tn. we got to the place a little early so this guy who worked there was helping us load in. we're usually pretty lazy when loading in, one guitar player shuffles things in and out of the trailer, while no less than two people carry everything, even things that clearly only take one person to load in (like a guitar head). anyway, he slid my 8x10 to the edge of the trailer door, and this guy picks it up by himself, carries it through the door, up the stairs, across the venue(didn't put it down to wheel it), up more stairs to the stage and gently puts it down on the stage. he carried it horizontally with a caster in his right hand and the towel bar in his left. our jaws dropped, i tried tipping the guy a few bucks for his help but he wouldn't take it.

Send this story to Ampeg.

They will use it as a testimonial and remove casters for 2009 to cut some costs.

It's not as hard as it looks if you do more than play video games all day.

I've manhandled an 810 by myself, but not in those epic manly proportions of that guy.

I just gave mine a great big hug, and walked backwards up the stairs.

$10 says the guy got a hernia.

I had a friend in college who would roadie and engineer for a folk group I was touring with. Not overly large ( despite his "Fat Pete" nickname) but strong. Carried an Altec Lansing A7 Voice of the Theatre PA speaker by himself. Once he picked up 2 Twin Reverbs, one in each hand. Didn't know his own strength. Broke a metal ice cube tray in half, trying to get the cubes out. My fave story with him was when we played a college with a bowling alley in the basement of the building we were playing in. After load in, we went downstairs exploring. Found the alley and tried to bowl a game or two. On Petes first throw, maybe because he was used to carrying all our equipment, the bowling ball flew down the alley, landing a few feet from the pins. We were afraid we cracked the lane and left silently and quickly.
I once pushed a SVT cabinet up a flight of stairs, but I was much younger and needed to get it into my apartment.

once we hired a guy to helps us move to another house..his nick name was "Tarzan" dont ask me why.. so this guy took the fridge, wrap a lil piece of cloth around the metal grill in the back of the fridge. pull it against his back and carried the thing to his truck, and then to my new house on a 3rd floor all by himself... i asked several times if he needed help.... but never accepted..
not a big guy.. maybe 170 lbs and 5'5 :0
