Anyone else have a Cinco De Mayo Gig tonight?

My band has an outdoor gig at a restaurant/bar in the north part of KC tonight. It has been raining some today but it is supposed to clear off this evening! Should be a lot of fun if the weather cooperates. Anyone else playing for a Cinco De Mayo party tonight?

Nothing here. As you might expect from my location, it isn't a huge deal in these parts. And early May up here is still taking a huge gamble as far as outdoor events.

Sounds like you're set up for a good time though. Hope all goes well.

Turned one down. Too far so with the price of gas I would have been in the negative.

Outdoor at a bar that's part of a bar crawl tonight.

Lots of drunk people loving what what you play and asking for songs you don't.

Even though we do have a large Hispanic community in KC it's really just another excuse for all us gringos to get drunk. Just like St. Patrick's Day! Heck, I bet most people still think Cinco De Mayo is Mexican Independence Day!

Yeah... I think the bigger thing up here is that it's a Thursday night. Sioux Falls is pretty much a Friday and Saturday night market for live music although a few clubs are starting to book bands for Thursday now as well.

Did one last year on a Wednesday night. Ton of fun. This years onThursday night, most local bars/clubs going with the normal DJ's and Karaoke guys that are normally booked on Thursdays. The live music seems to be a Friday / Saturday night thing in these parts.

Ah, we finished a bottle of Cuervo before the set. Then played a good set.

After all these years I had my first Cinco De Mayo gig. I pictured it to be a sterile start. We kicked it off with "I'll take you there" and the party started. Had a great crowd and a great gig.

Played on a river cruise w/ a trio. Mostly Latin flavored pop music with a few jazz standards for the dinner set. The food was amazing. They fed us before we played and we were able to graze on the breaks. A leisurely and fun gig!

Had a corporate party at The Essex House in NYC. Not a Cinco de Mayo party but it was ON the 5th!
