I like sub gigs, no matter how bad. I'd like to do more of them. Apart from the money, the best part is knowing that whatever drama transpires between bandmates throughout the night is nothing you have to be concerned with. You might have to play Margaritaville but a lot of leaders will pay a fill-in guy out of their own pocket just to save the gig. It's like doing contract work or something, no long term commitment and you get to meet a lot of people in different situations..

I got a call at about 5:00 on a Friday night to play at 9:00. I had heard of the band (local "legend") but never seen them. I knew it wouldn't be the most rewarding gig, but I was available and I got my price (more than they offered at first) as it was such short notice. Turns out it was OK, played some tunes I hadn't done in a while. I think they were happy with my playing. Pay me enough and I'll do just about anything.
