Asked to leave because of no crowd

Man I am P***** , My band had an acoustic gig tonight on main street but it was a slow night for some stupid reason and we were asked to leave because the bar couldn't generate enough business. I drove over an hour for a good time and only played for another hour. I personally got the feeling that the owner just didn't like that kind of music because right after he told us that he kicked on some Jarule, and the very next song was brittney spears. during takedown im just thinking to myself what in the **** is wrong with this guy....sheesh. I spent more on gas and beer than I got paid.

I doubt it was #2. #1 is typically all they care about. Most owners would run bagpipes or chimps banging on saucepans if it would bring in the crowds/money.

Or maybe it was the chimp on drums that cost you the gig?

This is the first time this has happened to you???? I dont think ive ever been asked to stop playing but ive def driven alot longer than that to play for a shorter amount of time. Ive lost money on almost every gig ive ever played. That does suck though, playing to no one is never fun.

Ive played with a band before who the promoter kicked off, because everyone was actually leaving not just the room but the whole venue

That brings up a good point. If you were asked to leave because noone shows up thats as much if not more the club's fault so just write it off as a bad night.
BUt if the place was full or at least had alot of people there when you atarted playing and then started leaving you may need to address why they left? Were you the wrong genre for that club or do you guys need more practice?

Had a fill-in gig cover this past Friday night like that (recently re-opened Club Mate/Thunderdome in Baltimore, MD). Got cut off after our first set.

Unfortunately, the place is never going to build a crowd. Awesome club, but it's in one of the worst (violent crime) neighborhoods in Baltimore. Venue used to be huge back in the day and I think they were trying to rebuild some of that former glory, but just isn't going to happen.

The guitarists minivan was broken into less than 20 minutes after he unloaded. Stolen radio/CD and satellite.. apparently also all of his son's sports gear.

Saturday night the band brought easily 100+ people to a little wharf restaurant - they definitely have a draw, but people just aren't going to chance going out there.
