A bad bassist hits a sour note.

A good bassist has a different interpretation.

A bad bassist plays way too loud for the room/stage/engineer/universe with his new V24-UltraMegaLoudAmps rig, making his band sound like complete s***

A good bassist has a total understanding of his role in a band and sets his stage volume to help everyone sound great.

A bad bassist spends too much time on TalkBass.

Let me refresh that last statement:

A bad employee spends too much time on internet bass forums.
A good employee spends his time more productively at work.

Another +1

A bad bassist uses distortion and effects to cover up his deficiencies.
A good bassist uses distortion and effects to enhance his strengths.

A bad bassist knows a single style or imitates a bass player exclusively.

A good bassist knows when to imitate and when to innovate.

OOOH I'm telling!

A bad bassist does choreographed rock moves from the 80s.

A good bassist bleeds on stage between epileptic fits.
