Do the spuds actually know how to play their instruments? Or are they just like KISS?

That's right, I said it

I guess it's no worse than Beatles Bobbleheads, Beatles lunch boxes, Beatles wigs, pieces of the sheets the Beatles slept on, Beatles shows, Beatles candy, Beatles games, Beatles jamies ... but somehow, KISS merch just seems --- tacky. Gotta admit though, that coffin is over the top. I still think the ultimate sales job gene did is landing Shannon Tweed.

I think there a difference between The Beatles stuff and Kiss merch. there's actually demand for Beatles things! And people would still like the Beatles without the merch and without them being on family guy about 5 times.

Sadly enough I have a friend who will most likely be buried in one of those someday, because he's a KISS collectible fanatic. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already got one and has it in storage.

From contactmusic.com:

KISS rocker GENE SIMMONS sent a coffin which was made especially for him, to the family of ex-PANTERA guitarist DARRELL 'DIMEBAG' ABBOT, after he was killed on stage during a concert last year (2004).

DIMEBAG was inspired by cult group KISS, and requested in his will that he be buried in one of the famous coffins.

Simmons says, "There were a limited number made and I sent mine to the family of 'Dimebag' Darrell. He requested in his will to be buried in a Kiss Kasket, as he sort of learned his rock 'n' roll roots by listening to us for some strange reason."

Was the Kasket also designed to be used as a cooler, until it was needed for burial? I seem to remember hearing Gene talk about it, saying that it was made for this purpose and a lot of bars were ordering them and filling them with ice and beer.
