Try and not
overplay. There will be spots in songs that some of that can be used to strut your chops, but not every part of every song.
I've been playing since 1964, having audtioned for several bands, and conducted many more auditions for bands during this time. First thing - be on time - actually early is better. Give yourself plenty of time to set-up your gear and bass and be ready to go prior to the designated time. Volume wise, it's always better to start out on the low side and then work your way up to the proper blend point. Even better if they suggest that you turn up. Be prepared - in addition to your basic gear - bring a music stand complete with notebook and pen or pencil for making notes, a guitar stand to properly rest your bass when not playing. A hand towell to wipe down your strings from time to time and Tylenol and Pepto for unexpected needs and bottled water or soda.
I think this covers the basics and I hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your time.
