Band Posters (BIG PICS)

Sign in to disble this ad
Wanted to share some of our band's posters & ads done by our drummer/ graphic artist Jim Davis.
This is only a very small sample of his work.
If you're on FaceBook search his name (or doseofmojo) for tons more of his cool stuff.

As a quasi-graphic-designer, and the principal designer of my band's stuff, I give a thumbs up. Nice to see something other than the normal "I have Paint, so it can't be too hard" posters I see all too often.

Thanks for the positive quasi-professional opinion

Very nice work -- clean, imaginative and (most importantly) memorable!

These look totally different than the Garfield comics he's known for!

All kidding aside, the posters look great.

Yup, nice work. The Black Cat on a red background is cheap and effective.

Our guitarist jokingly introduced him as "the originator of the Garfield cat cartoon" once and I had to think it about it though an entire set.
I was new in the trio (they'd been together 8 years) and had delusions that I was playing with some super-wealthy, fanatical (but talented) artist/ drummer.

Not strictly for my band, but here are a few that I've done for shows for that we've played.

Guess what band I'm in and win a prize!

Here's the latest from my band. People seemed to really dig this one. The original artwork was an early 20th century Alice in Wonderland illustration by Arthur Rackham which I'm pretty sure is public domain.

Wow I wish I had bands like that around here to go watch, not too much good prog around here. I Really like the poster, awesome way to relate the poster (somewhat) to the kind of music you'll be playing. I feel thats pretty important with band posters, getting peoples eye, giving them an idea of what the atmosphere at the show is going to be like.

I have tickets to a TooL show on July 5th and they are doing individual, numbered posters (and shirts) for each show and also selling signed posters for about $100 I think. Heres a facebook album of the posters and some production shots aswell.

Very cool, TooL knows how to treat their fans. I probably still won't spend $100 on a poster though...

Thanks! I think for the time being, we're going to use a bunch of those illustrations for our flyers. Being in a prog cover band is fun. It's a lot of work getting those songs down, and there's a limited audience for it, but the people who come see us are really enthusiastic.

Thumbs up Poster Art

Thanks for the encouragement JackANSI. And thanks Bassmastertim, JBuckley & EdHunter for your ideas as well.
Nice to see what's happening in different areas. There's some great talent here in the TB community that deserves to be showcased.
Graphic art; like music, inspires, motivates and stimulates our creativity too.
