Bass and flute carols!?!?!

Sign in to disble this ad
In about two & half hours, I will be leading carols at church after the hanging of the greens. It should be interesting as it will only be me and the flutist (hopefully one of the people I trust to play percussion will show up, even though I couldn't make contact). Oh well, I've done worship with just me and drummer before so this shouldn't be too rough. I think I might record it for poops and giggles.

I keep on meaning to relearn piano or picking up guitar but stuff time is not plentiful. This may be the push I need.

The sad thing is we have 20+ people at church I can think of who play guitar or piano, and still...

It might be odd, but not THAT strange. I heard story from one of my old band directors from when he was in the President's Own Marine Band that the principal tuba player and flute player were married and would perform this show piece written for them.

It's quite possible it could be a success. I hope it goes (went) splendidly.

It can work. If you get your hands on one of the old style hymn books with 4 part harmony.... have the flute play the melody (duh) and bass plays the Tenor line (right, not bass). Most of the old hymn books were voiced so the tenor and soprano are a complete duet. You might want to be sure to play the root of the chord (bass part) on the last note, but other than that, the soprano and tenor parts sound very nice together.
