Bass, Keyboard or......Tuba?

So a few weeks back I'm walking down the street not far from the college. As I walk down the street I notice 2 guys and a chick (college students) sitting on the roof of their house. I hear them debating on what I'm carrying.

1st guy: I bet you $5 it's a Keyboard

the girl : looks kinda like a bass case

3rd guy: I'm in (yells at me) Hey is that a tuba?

*I give him a strange look*

The girl: What are you carrying?

Me: A Bass

The Girl: You guys each owe me $5

Needless to say the two guys looked like fools when the chick they were probably trying to impress guessed what I was carrying based on the rectangular hardshell case I was carrying. I still laugh when I think of this (Tuba!). Kinda wish I'd asked her if she wanted to come to the party I was headed to...coulda scored some college tail, I doubt those two guys were getting any!

Nah...you'd have invited her to the party and she'd have left with the guitarist.

You know the drill.

When was at school, I used to play Tuba in a Brass Band. I used to get a ride home from gigs with the drummer, so I'd load the tuba on the van and carry the drummer's bass drum case to his dad's car. You wouldn't believe the number of times I got asked:

"how do you get that thing you play in that case?".

:-)

lmao. Nice! I have no idea how you can confuse a tuba case for a bass case?! The keyboard is not too far fetched though. However keyboard hard cases are usually heavy (Like 25-30lbs) plus the keyboard! That is bumping it up to about 50 - 100 lbs. Those things have wheels for a reason!

In high school my brother switched instruments to tuba. The reason? At our school the tuba player got to leave it at the school. He didn't have to bring it home to practice.

Haha, had something similar happen to me in a college town, only it was some drunken guys yelling about the cello I was carrying (??). I guess a cello is a little more plausible than a tuba..
