I don't wear a hat to look cool. I can't look cool. My coolness peaked in 1991. It's been downhill ever since.

I don't dress to impress chicks. I finally impressed one enough to marry me and that's enough. No hat required.

But I'm recently wearing a black derby (bowler) hat at some gigs. I do it because it's somewhat goofy and adds to the overall feel of the band that we're here to help you forget your troubles for the evening and have some fun.

Our oldies group wears cheezy cardigans with a C on them. Sometimes we wear white dinner jackets and bow ties. Sometimes it's all black. It's all to help create a vibe and add to the entertainment.

Hey Chad...to quote Billy Graham, when asked if women should wear makeup..."If the barn needs paint..."

Personally, I don't accept Abraham Maslow.

What's next...a discussion of "trimming a beard to give the appearance of having a chin?"

i'll go out on a limb and bet that as an entertainer you're not opposed to (shoot, maybe you even promote) people "looking at you". am i right?

breaking a "social rule" is considered by many to be the definition of bad manners.

Some social rules are good. Some are bad.

I'd say it's somewhere between some and a lot.

Funny ..I'm in a new band with two younger gals the lead singer always wears a hat as I do. I would never care what anyone thought of my hats. If a woman doesnt like them ..big deal. It's not like I am interested in you or your opinon.

Hats are a man thing. If they don't like it and I've heard this before too bad. Something about wearing a hat, and my concentration and focus being on point.

I wear brown shoes w/ shorts to walgreens and i could give one poop who likes or doesn't like it. the freedom from fashion and the release from caring about the judgement of women is incredibly refreshing. my wife hates the one hat I wear, and I wear it anyway...plus 70% of women are lame...I wonder if these were the 70% you asked

Was cheerfully chastised for NOT having a hat at a gig last night.

See, this kind of attitude is why nobody likes you open-minded people!

(I can't tell if your post was sarcastic, and now I'm not even sure if mine is)

Each to thier own and I'm not knocking anything.

But if you want your laugh for the day....put a hat on me. I look ridiculous with any hat on.

We're bass players. We can wear what we want. It's the rules.

70% of women are full of it. Tell that to all the "hit n' runs" I've done with chicks after gigs over the years.
