Everyone cares what others think.
I wasn't really talking about wearing a hat. I was talking about how I don't care what others think. Not everyone is like you. It's a silly statement to say that everyone cares about what others think.

People have been talking about human interaction, culture and the evolution society long before you and I were born.

If you have taken any classes such as basic psych., cultural anthropology or transactional analysis,
then you have heard of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

here, I'll even provide a link for you so you don't even have to google it:

http://www.simplypsychology.org/maslow.html

It's not my opinion, it's taught in schools.

Please tell me where in the Original Hierarchy of Needs or the Expanded Hierarchy it says that I have a "need" to care what others think. More specifically, complete strangers.

I get all of that from my family and friends, not from complete strangers.

You are truly a man among men!
I am in awe of you.
But... you don't care what I think, so carry on!

No hat here... I would never wear a hat indoors. I was brought up with manners. If outside, I wear sunglasses.

But I look like Keanu Reeves on crack, so hats look silly on me anyway

I like hats, and there for I wear them. I'm not at all interested in the opinion of others, I don't wear hats for their sake, I wear them for mine. I am also a happily married man, so the opinions of women at gigs is really of no interest to me... in fact it would probably be less hassle for me if the women at gigs were obviously repulsed by my appearance, as it would help stop the wife from being jealous.

Also as a heterosexual man I obviously think women look better then men in hats... or indeed out of hats for that matter... (but don't tell the wife I said that)

I am so tired of seeing people in general - not just musicians - abusing the concept of a fedora.

Also, to the guy who brought up Maslow and Psych 101 in a thread about hats on bass players: lol.

Some hats are for shade, some to keep off the rain, some for both. The rest are to say "look at me"! The shady rainproof hats indoors at a gig are also worn to say "look at me".

Pray tell, what is the concept of a Fedora?

The only time I wear a hat is when I'm working in the yard or clearing snow from my driveway. I don't think I could pull off wearing one on stage.

How exactly is it bad manners to wear a hat indoors? Thats just a stupid social rule from the times of segregated bath rooms, slave housewives.

also you should not wear a hat indoors as it is bad manners.

I'm 6'4" and a hat only accentuates that fact.

That whole make-up thing, it is just a waste of money. Obviously, any woman that wears it is covering up something. We man know these things.
