Bass playing has ruined my youth...

No 15 year old in this day and age should be able and willing to use the terms "groovy" or "funky" to describe something and do so on a regular basis. But here I am...

Merry Christmas

I know what you mean, man.

But on the other hand, I'm willing to bet that you are way more mature than your fellow 15 year olds. Playing the bass does that to you somehow.

Debatable, but more often than not true.

I started playing bass at 15. That was 13 years ago, and my inspiration was quite groovy and funky. Certainly not what my peers were listening too.

Stay true to you. It pays off in the long run. It also pays off in your playing and how satisfied you are with it. You will find other musicians with your same ambitions, and the music you make with them will be tremendously rewarding.

Playing bass ups your badass factor exponentially the longer you play, the more hip licks you learn, and the funkier your grooves get.

I used to be a classical piano nerd until bass corrupted me

I know how you feel man, but then again, I enjoy being more respected by adults in my life as I'm more mature (musically and otherwise, it's true, bass is the instrument chosen by the strangely intellectual/strange ) than most people my age.

i think *every* 15 year old should use the terms "groovy" and "funky" to describe all things that are groovy and/or funky. Have a groovy Christmas everyone!
