| | | | Makes for an odd first post but I've been lurking the forums for a while and it'll give me something to put in my sig. I drive a red '98 Saturn stick. Acceleration is terrible, AC is broke and don't have the money to fix it (I live in Florida), wiper timing is screwed up, burns a little oil (but it's old so that's expected), and airbags have been deployed (and cut out). But funny thing is it has almost 176k miles on it, pretty sure the clutch is original (I'm the third owner), and the engine still runs fine. Takes quite a beating. Sign me up for a number. |

But I do indeed drive a 6-speed manual - an Alfa Romeo Giulietta (red, naturally). It's the first car I've ever had that people compliment me on.
No photos of my car to hand but here's what they look like, just in case they're not sold in the US:

I removed the back seats and various other interior parts so I can fit my bass equipment. This little car, although nerdy, has paid for itself over and over again.
You would think a V6 (despite being non-turbo) in a car that weights practically nothing would be very fast, it's not. I even made a custom intake, bigger high flowing exhaust and weight reduction. It's still slow.

This is how cars are supposed to be made.
Everything is still mechanical; no electronics whatsoever.
And if you treat it right, it'll never let you down. |

Sorry for the slow response, I mean if I am getting close to an area that I will need to slow down for or stop at I drop it in neutral and coast. That means all stoplights, signs, and traffic. I also coast down hills. I have been doing it since I learned to drive. My longest coast is 8.3 miles

Right now I'm driving a 6sp Nissan Sentra Spec V - it's basically my commute to work car. Previously:
- 6sp Jeep Wrangler (I need to get another of those
one of these days)
- various inexpensive 5sp Japanese imports
- mid 1980sDodge Shelby Charger with a 5sp
- 1981 Z28 Carmaro with a 4sp.
- a number of American and Japanese motorcycles.
I think manuals are making something of a comeback in the United States, especially among younger people. A number of my son's friends drive them (everyone in my house can drive a manual). They're just more fun than autos.
