Ignore this advice and you might end up with a bass that only other bassists think looks good.

And playing gigs that only other male musicians go to, standing around with arms folded checking out gear.

I know I would do anything she suggests.
Yeah, her powers of persuasion look quite intact.

I took my First Act Custom Bass to work with me a couple of years ago. One of my coworkers was bagging on its look, when I saw to guys and a positively adorable young woman checking it out. My coworker said "why did get such an ugly instrument made?" I turned to the three checking it out and said "What do you guys think of it?"

Guy 1: "It's way too feminine for me!"

Guy 2: "That thing looks gay." (sorry for the lack of PC, but that was the response)

Girl: "Aww, it's so cute. Can I hold it?"

To which I turned back to me co-worker and said "That, dear sir, is exactly why I had it made like this!"

Sod that, They are not going to influence my bass choice, Already messed up so much of the rest of my life.

Besides..... I LIKE PURPLE ANYWAYS!
Nothing by it just a great colour. Likely any more basses i buy will either be deep red or purple. But no girl has ever influenced that choice, nor will they. Broads be crazy to make a certain phrase nicer to the female members here

To the people calling for the OP's death (hyperbole mine): Do you ask anyone for any sort of input before buying a bass? If so, why not add a pretty lady into the mix? Doesn't necessarily mean you follow their advice, but they can add a perspective.

How many threads a week do we see where someone is asking "what pick guard should I put on my bass?"

Speaking of which... how do you think a red tort pickguard would look on a violin bass with black finish.

Don't answer that.

Okay, so maybe it's a lot of guys who don't respect women enough to ask their opinion?

You are being too specific. It is just a bunch of guy's that don't respect anybody else's opinion. As for me, I ask my teenage daughter when I need this kind of input.

No, but how do you really feel? BTW, I agree one thousand percent.

But you do have some great looking basses.
Your pink one kills and I bet all the lady's love it.
I know my pink one always gets lots of attention.

I'm kind of colorblind, so I have my girlfriend, mom and sister help when I'm picking colors to paint my builds.

I pick the wood, electronics and hardware. They weigh in heavily on color. Everything feels and sounds how I want, looks how the ladies like.

Here are my three builds that are played the most:

Before you buy another bass, ask an attractive girl who dresses well, doesn't know or care much about basses, and isn't so close to you that she'd care how much money you spend or have to spend. Tell her you have a fashion-related question, show her some pictures of the bass you're thinking about, and she'll tell you how the bass really looks and how you'll look with it.

I've done that a couple of times. Got talked into buying one bass and out of another. The one I got talked into was good, but the one I got talked out of was much more interesting. She told me that it looks good, but not for me. Loosely translating what she told me in Polish, it would be great for my singers (who don't play bass, but that's an unimportant detail). Apparently I need to be emphasized and not decorated. The bass should form a coherent whole with what I'm wearing and my personality, and that's much more important than how nice the bass looks as a bass.

Now there's some advice you'd never get if you asked another bassist whether a blue flower Precision is worth buying.
Yeah....sure. About that, how did either of the basses in question play of feel? How did they sound? I mean, who cares what it looks like, as long as it feels, plays, and sounds like you want it too? Want good advice on buying a bass? Bring a trusted friend who also plays bass, or any bass player you know who's opinion you trust and who knows what you're looking for sound wise.

Should have gone with your first instinct and put this under humor.
