They left out the guy that played all through H.S. & collage while working his day job (that he got with his degree) and played in cool bands all his life.

Sad thing is is I think the author thinks this story is "cool" and he isn't a "loser" I think possibly writing a internet blog is maybe the biggest loser thing to date.

Anyway funny read the fat kid with the "haircut" of doom takes the cake. I'm so glad I missed out on those 80's things. God what a terrible time to be 15 or older.

That would be "COLLEGE" genius, and I think you just proved his point.

What's really sad is being 45 and not even knowing how to compile data. Ah, if all my suppositions were science.... what a wonderful world it would be.

I know that guy. Drummed in HS, college and Army Reserve. Has an awesome wife and brilliant, gifted daughter. $ucce$$fully $elf-employed as an Oracle DBA. Has toured all over the East Coast and now plays in "the official Irish Band of the NY Mets." Which means that like the Beatles, he's played Shea Stadium. Plays at least a half-dozen gigs a month. Not bad.

I played a school gig a couple of months back and no girls with daddy issues became interested in me...

It's all lies!

Or he's never really got over the one true love of his life leaving him for a musician with charisma, a fun sense of humour and a huge wang.

He forgot about the 2nd wind factor. Folks that do the band thing then take a break to do the college / corporate job / family thing and then get a 2nd wind at the band thing in their 40's and 50's. Only now they have the big bucks to create their own man cave recording/rehearsal studios and buy 2000watt PA systems and a collection of $2500 Les Paul's to play for the cougars down at the local dive bars. Just saying that there is a second peak in the data not being looked at. We are the old fart rich guys that keep the doors open at Guitar Centers. One of the cover bands that rent time in my rehearsal studio is fronted by a Doctor that enjoys singing in the band thing over chasing little white balls at the golf course. Another local cover band that gigs regularly is fronted by an attorney that just loves to shred SRV blues. Lots of folks from all walks of life love music.
