I was hoping this thread would be about The Mighty Boosh.
I found something better.

I usually play "You can leave your hat on" un-BOOOSHed, but this thread got me inspired - at tonights rehearsal I will try to execute a perfect, slow, fullbar BOOOSH at each chorus ending break.

I got the mono- and dual-style quick'n'funky BOOOSH down good, but with this slow'n'smooth soul BOOOSHing rolling over a full bar or more I still trace sloppiness in my execution, so more woodshedding needed.

My band has a song in which the BOOSH is definitive part of the arrangement. When a third guitard jammed in a scratch over the BOOSH, I somehow began to forget to tell him about practices.

I'm proud to announce that, after reading this thread, I BOOSHed in church this morning.
Great fun!

I'm pretty sure you need to go to confession as a result of this act. :P

*laughing self sick* I will put this in the trick bag for the day I take on the beast that is a fretless.

I do it every so often in Worship Team. Our keys player LOVES it when I BOOOOSH. Usually comes at the end of a high-energy track when we absolutely NAIL it, and he's going nuts doing the keyboard equivalent, draggin' fingers up and down across. (What would the technical term for that be?) Makes us feel all cool n' stuff. (And the congregation usually gets a kick out of it too.)

Sounds like glissando taken to its logical extreme.

I have a vague idea what a BOOSH is, but can I please have an idea what it is in a sound context?

Sounds like what you would imagine a bass-toned laser beam/blast in a funky 70's Sci-Fi B movie to sound like.

3-String BOOSH

I have used the Boosh many times.

IF anyone remembers "Pictures Of MatchStick Men" by Status Quo (Ithink)...

Theres a heavily-flanged three-stage Boosh in that song.

It may be just a slide off three notes, but the flanger smears it together so well, it sounds continuous.

I have snagged that and used it many times.

1- Starting at the upper register (24 th fret) of G or D, begin the slide.
2- About the 10th or 12th fret, move to the next string,
(D or A) continuing ther downward movement.
3- About the 5th fret, move to the lowest string, continuing to destination note.

Adjust speed and change points to taste.

This can sound really soaring,...confusing,...or anything in between, depending on variation of style

Youre welcome

One of my bands is a 80s glam cover band. Pretty much intro to every song in the set with varying degrees of theatrics. Haha. BOOOOSH!

If you listen carefully, you can hear John Deacon having what sounds like a boosh attack at the end of "Dead on Time":
