Had to replace the bridge, it can't be tuned or stay in tune....Other than that it sounds great and looks great but it is a piece of crap...that simple, I could trade it in but I like it...dumb but my other basses play great so its staying here on welfare....I'll offf it to somebody some day ...
I will say that this was the only bad deal I got all last year when I was buying a lot of gear......I feel lucky and better after I fessed up.................... |

I have three basses:
SX Fretless P-Bass ($100; Christmas gift)
Squier P-Bass ($100; bought with Christmas cash, thus Christmas gift)
Fender BG-31 Acoustic Bass ($100; another Christmas gift)
Into a $20 used 15-Watt Johnson RepTone 15B practice amp, via a Monster Cable Performer 12-foot instrument cable. Occaisionaly I'll use a Hartke VXL Bass Attack Pedal (used for $45.)
So let's see.. Total cost TO ME is $65 (not including strings; probably $200 including strings), whereas the sum of my gear is $500.
Long story short, I think I qualify. Lots of gear, just all of it was dirt cheap/a gift
EDIT: I should include that I'm a sophomore in college. I'll have a job from June to August, making $200 a week (plus room and board; Summer Camp) which I will be using to buy (most likely) a Gallien-Krueger MB115, which will put my total at $900. Of course, again with the cost TO ME it'll be around $600. So that's all!

I'm sooo broke I built my own bass from timber left over from jobs. Only thing I bought was the fretwire.
I own the poor mans ampeg SVT ie - peavey roadmaster
The strings on my Spector (Korean) are 7 years old, I just try to keep them clean.
I build my own cabs .. out of scraps left over from jobs with the cheapest , generic drivers I can purchase. $30 bucks a pop for an 8" bought 8 of them
I use garden shade cloth for speaker grill - 50cents a square metre.
Speaker leads - bits of chopped up cord I find around the place.
My band....Tight, phat sound with a tight @rse bassplayer!
But not tight @rse by choice

| | | | I originally had a black GSR 190 as my first bass. I decided to defret it to make me a better player with ore precise fingering. I stripped the paint to reveal a cheap epoxy, and then I screwed up. I took it off to put on some oak cabinet veneer as a top and that failed. So I'm sittin there in a shed with some scrap boards around me and this ugly trashed body... few hours later and lots of screws... volia!
It Sounds great. Like a fretless P with the tone knob on 10. But small pine boards eventually bend like a neck does, so the action is pretty high as of right now.
The best part about this bass... it's perfectly balanced hahahaha!
