when i had my stock bridge on (before the schaller upgrade) i broke the low e right by the bridge, while onstage !!! got a nice slice across my right forearm. luckily other bands were playing, so i got to use a nice active p for the rest of the show. now i make sure i have at least one extra bass there, sometimes two. |

All of them Bs (both taper and regular) and Es (Taper and regular). I'm in a metal band, so those strings see the most action. Never broke onstage though. Fortunately, my other bass is a BEAD 4, so I can switch with minimal problems in event of a onstage break.

Mostly E's and A's!
I don't play very hard, a medium touch I'd say.
One of the E's snapped and came at me, but it wasn't veyr fast, felt like being shot by a pellut gun in the chest
A bassist friend of mien snapped his E, it went flying at him, cut his shoulder, and a few more cuts down his arm |

The thing about this that was really terrible was that it was the one gig I have ever gone to without a back up bass. So, I had to borrow another band's bass,i dont even remember what it was, and i wouldnt want to. |

I'm probably the only guy on earth that broke a B string.
That was when I justed started playing bass, I picked up a Jazz Bass V and played a little around, I was so fascinated by the B that I pulled it and pulled it and pulled it.... SNAP.
It hit my face and I had go to hospital because it was bleeding like i got a headshot of an MP5.
Remember you die of being hit by a bass string and your relatives have to explain that to you POD insurance

I'm actually changing brands from the D'Addario SlowWounds to the LaBella's to see if that helps.
I play fingerstyle funk/rock.
I broke, Bs, Es, and Gs so far.
EDIT 8/26/02: I just broke a D string last night - another D'Addario SlowWound GARBAGE!!!!

| | | | Ive been playing a long time now.In the late seventies as Funk slapper,I used to "pop" the Dstring on my StingRay all the time! And I played a set of .055-.110's!!
Recently I had an A string just unravel during a set.
Luckily it was the last song.
I also keep"the set I just took off"when I last changed strings in my case.
I learned that lesson in the 70s. |

I was practicing this http://www.basstabarchive.com/cgi-bi...rotomania.btab and it suddenly broke at the bridge, didn't sustain any injuries though
Was kinda scary none the less!
