I'm on the list!!!

Had a nearly-simiesque drummer and a non-singing singer in the band for almost three years. Luckily, they are gone forever!

Why are they "ignorant jacks"? Your post is vague.

Or how about the band members (drummer guitarist/lead singer-who cant even sing) who kick you out of the band and dont even tell you for 2 weeks, and you have to find out from one of your other friends of the band.
They said they couldnt tell me cause they considered themselves really good friends, and didnt want to ruin our friendship.
To me it was a very immature way of going about it.

And after ive been out of the band, not heard from them since...but i have heard that the shows they play only the same 6 ppl show up.

~Karma~ (not saying its cause of me)
a recent show after kicking me out they ended up oweing the venue money cause they didnt make enough.

I was brought into a band whose bassist had severely injured their hand and they had gigs booked for months. I was given 2 weeks to learn 40-45 songs. I did it. I helped redo their website. I got them up on myspace and started getting seriously great responses and new people coming to the shows.

I was told that I was a "full member" and had "20% of the vote on everything."

And then I went on vacation for a week 3 months into my gig with them.

I covered a gig the weekend I got back. The next morning, I was called and told that I had been replaced by a bassist who knew the drummer. I was told that my opinion on band matters wasn't wanted since I was "not an original member". So much for being a "full member", huh?

And ALL this was done by email.

Clearly, they had been planning this behind my back for several weeks.

yeah, a-holes of the first degree.

I got a small dose of revenge. I pulled down the website, and deleted the 1200 "friends" in the area I had amassed on myspace -- in fact pulled all information on the site down within 2 hours of the email. The tools in the band don't have the knowledge to do a website.

I keep waiting to hear of their demise. Nothing would be sweeter.

Our singer is kind of like that. I realized this when he got a new job and other responsibilities, and we stopped seeing much of him for a month. The few times he'd show up, there would be arguments about stupid crap within minutes. Just the dudes temperment.

the longer you play and the better you get, the less you encounter these people, professionally.

I did something similar when our drummer and lead singer bailed simultaneously...I changed our myspace site's password right away, since the guitarist had suggested they might try to steal our band name. In retrospect it probably wasn't necessary, but it's best to protect your own interests at that point.

to be fair, it was more than mere revenge -- I had created our logo, all the artwork, retooled a very cool myspace site. I had spent countless hours searching for, and adding, and thanking, 1200 myspace friends. I created flyers to hand out at gigs.

I didn't want them stealing (and benefiting) from my work.

Yeah, that seems like the crummy part of your story, that they were seemingly so thankless for all the work you had done. You definitely did the best thing in that situation, IMO. They don't have a right to benefit from your hard work, especially after being so manipulative.

I'm in a band with nice guys.

Nice guys who are lazy, and nice guys who are completely whipped.

Bands suck, I'm going to record solo black metal from now on and never perform live and only release 2 copies of my albums.

I laughed.

Singers are the worst IMO.

That almost sounds like the band I'm in right now. The guitarist can't practice past 5PM on school nights because he has a young daughter at home, plus he works second shift during the week. Racing season is coming up, so that's going to occupy a lot of his Saturdays (he does amateur racing at a local track).

The drummer also works second shift most nights, including Saturdays (yeah, real great to be in a cover band and have a job like that). Also, we haven't had a true lead singer in the last six months. I found a guy who's less than ideal, but could work out if he practices a lot to improve. The drummer keeps mentioning guys he knows who can sing, but can never bother to follow up with them or get them over for an audition. We also only practice about once every other weekend because of their schedules. We have one "gig" lined up for the summer (private party thing) and that's it.

No wonder I'm looking for other projects right now so I can actually make use of my gear. If only I could find any other musicians to play with in my area right now. *sigh*
