Jeff martin (Tea party) was at my show tonight. woot. apparently, according to my guitard, he's interested in producing us if we get him a demo. But we don't have one atm nor do we have anyway to get him one when we do get one. No doubt though he says that to every tom dick and harry who harasses him.

Anyway back to the point, which celebreties have seen you play?

Many many years ago some no named guy, I think his name was like Michael Balzary or something showed up, did'nt know a thing about bass, saw me play and said I was an inspiration to him. Never saw him again, but I heard he's doing pretty well now.

My friend who is a bass player and lead vocalist was in a band that was graced by the presence of none other than the Hoff himself, David Hasselhoff. To top things off, when the band finished their set, Hoff told them that they could really go places if they weren't being held back by their lame bassist/lead vocalist. Harsh Hoff, harsh.

During a jazz gig, it was time to play So What. The keyboard player says, "This one's all about the bass."

The drummer says, "All about the bass? That must be why it's called So What."

Thirty years ago we were playing the Lonestar Cafe in NYC where we played warm-up for Freddy Fender and then played back-up for him on the wing because only one guy from his band made it due to bad weather. We were doing two shows and right after the first show we had a break and I was trying to get the attention of a bartender to cop a couple beers. This little guy who looked like he had been living under a bridge for three months kept tugging at my sleeve. I tried to be polite but never come between me and my efforts to obtain a beer. After scoring the aforementioned beverage I hurried to the Green Room. Ten minutes later Freddy Fender came in and introduced the guy who was tugging my sleeve. It was Johnny Paycheck.

Oh man...

I played a record release party for the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I was playing percussion behind a Middle Eastern dance troupe, along with an Oud player who is one of the most amazing musicians on the planet - sings and plays chords in tune on a fretless instrument, and has a repertoire about as big as the state of Wyoming, amazing cat). Hardly saw them, though.

The other big one was when I was playing bass with a 10 piece African band (that was a FUN gig) and David Bowie came in to the after-hours club in L.A. where we were playing and partied there for a few hours. Sadly, he didn't come up and ask me to replace his bass player...

So David Bowie and the CP's have seen me play, but I haven't seen them play...

We had a gig a few years ago and a famous swedish politician (at the time in the government in the ruling party) was turned away at the door. He was about to go to our gig with his son but the son was underage and they served alcohol so they wouldnt let them in. This same politican also attended Dissections first gig back. Cool dude!

Beetle Bob showed up to our gig in St. Louis at the Way Out Club.
If you don't know who Beetle Bob is - he's gets into any major venue and festival there is. He dances...I think he writes music blogs too or something.

And he was doing his patent "dance" the whole time.

Also, the drummer of Plain White T's saw us play at a house-party in Chicago and told me he though we were tight. That was before "Delilah" started getting major airplay.

How about that giant bug hanging from the ceiling! I have to admit though, I loved playing there.

Charlie Benate, the drummer from Anthrax, was at my last show. Of course we were opening for MOD, the singer of which used to be in a band called SOD with Charlie. Speaking of Anthrax my band is currently sharing a practice space with Scott Ian and a couple of the guys from Fall Out Boy. Apparently they've got a 'metal' side project they're starting together. That guy really gets hooked up by Randall amps.

I got a good one

I'm in an ACDC tribute band in Florida.

About a year ago, two of my band members showed up to see a show where Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams of AC/DC were playing with some other musicians. They get to talking to someone there, tells him who they are, and he immediately calls Brian Johnson over. Brian Johnson says "hey, why not come up and do a tune with us??"

So our lead singer and guitarist did "Highway to Hell" with them! Lucky guys. Wish I had been there! here are the pics/clip

video clip

my own personal story? I was living in DC in 1985-86. I was with a small band doing a show in Georgetown. Who comes in and sits down but Fawn Hall (of the Iran-Contra scandal fame) and sits down with a friend and has a bunch of drinks. I guess that's sort of a celebrity. LOL

Tom Morello, and the singer from the Counting Crowes.

I have no idea if they saw us or not. I don't know if I saw them (I would not have know who they were at the time - by appearance), but my singer saw them right after our set.

Julia Stiles showed up at an open-air cafe gig last summer. The classic moment was when my lead singer mouthed the words "Are you famous?" to her in between verses. Suprisingly, she stuck around for a while, which made it difficult to stay in the pocket, if you know what I mean....http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...140_SX100_.jpg

Right after My Bodyguard came out, actor Adam Baldwin came to one of our shows. He was a friend of my cousin at the time.

Sonny Bono came to another show. Unfortunately, all he saw was us trying to figure out why our PA was dead. There were only about 3 people in the club, so Sonny sat in the back with the owner, who was an old friend of his.
