So last night, I was doing a casual on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. The woman who hired us wanted another band who was playig in another room, to come over and play 2 or 3 tunes while we were on break.
She originally wanted them to schlep their gear all the way over for this, and our group wasn't told about this until right before start time. The keyboardist and drummer were very resistant to do this.
Well, making a long story short, the other band turned out to be friends of ours! We were a 5 piece with vox, bass, keys drums and sax, and they were Keys, drums and guitar, so we just all played! The keyboardists would switch off, the guitar and sax traded solos, One drummer got a cowbell and some toys and went out front with the singer, and it was all good!
What a fun night!
