Cool compliment from my guitarist

I wasn't able to play with my band on our New Years Eve show, because I had already committed to helping lead the new years eve party at my church for the high school kids and I couldn't really back out of that. I asked my lead guitarist how the gig went yesterday, and here's what he said:

"It went ok, but without you holding stuff together, it was kind of loose. It didn't exactly fall apart, but it's so much tighter with you holding us down."

I thought that was one of the better compliments that I've ever gotten. It's nice to be appreciated.

Well, that's nice! But after all, don't we deserve it, every now and then?
I once had a cool compliment from our leadgitarist too: I called in sick for a rehearsal. He said "Well, there's not going to be a rehearsal at all then". I felt a bit responsible and asked if they couldn't work on things without me. He answered that without (me playing) the bass, there's no band.
Now there's a guitarist who realises a band is not the same as HIM + backing.

Now that's cool! Isn't it great to be recognized for what we do?

Ive had a simular comment, I couldnt make it to practice once. But I heard both of the guitarist got lost in the middle of a song because they both still start to solo and not remember when to come back in because Im not their keeping the rythem. I heard this and starting laughing, this was back when bass to me was playing solid root notes the entire song, now those seem like the dark ages.

The best compliment I ever got was from the keyboard player in the band, who, upon going back and listening to an album we cut together years earlier said "I went back and listened, and you like just disappear into the tunes"..."you're totally transparent".

That's the best compliment I've ever gotten.

It is nice to be recognized to laying it down solid.

SWEET!!! Its nice to know they appreciate you.

I got a nice compliment the other night. We walked into the gig, and my husband jokingly said, "I found this chick bass player wandering around outside, and thought I'd see if you needed her!"

Drummer said, "Well, we'll see. She'd have a hard time playing better than the bad*** one we've already got!"

After the way he's been lately, that was cool to hear.

I often hear the next comment:

"I don't really like the band, but they do have a great bassplayer". Of course, this makes me happy but I know I can improve a lot.

And I do agree with those people saying it because really the whole band kind of sucks, but I hang in there because they once asked me to come and play bass because their bassist had suddenly quit the band.

Luckily i'm also in two other bands with great musicians (not gigging yet though) so if there comes a moment where I'll have to choose just because it's getting too busy, i'll stop the first metal band

Since I just started bass, I feel that compared to the other experienced players in my band i really need to get better, but a great compliment from the whole band made me feel alot better. They say stuff like "u picked that thing up so quickly" and "u are very good seeing as u just started" It makes me feel good to know they care to have me.
