A few months back, a modern/alternative rock station's morning show had a segment where listeners could call in and tell who their favorite local band was. It turns out that a bunch of my band's friends called in and named us. The DJ had never even heard of us (we started playing out in October, and this was maybe the middle of January) so he was kind of taken aback, since modern rock DJs really have their thumbs on the pulse of underground music.
Anyway, fast-forward to this week, and our lead singer gets a call from the host of an all-local show called The Garage on the same station. We had never submitted any music to The Garage (In large part because we don't have any decent recordings done yet) but apparently she heard about us through word of mouth. She had hooked us up with a pretty cool show in a fairly prominent bar in Ames on a friday night. The place is on the corner of Lincoln Way (one of the main roads in Ames) and Welch (the main bar road in Ames), so we should get a lot of exposure.
The show is a week from Friday, and the night before an even higher profile show also in Ames (we're opening for The Wedding and Take it Back, both from Arkansas and both HUGE in Ames for some reason). That weekend should be fun.
